“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” - Hippocrates
It is known that plants have been used to heal humans for thousands of years and are the origin of many modern treatments. Because of the long tradition of using botanicals to promote health, the use of herbs is well established and widely acknowledged to be safe and effective. Herbalists use a variety of natural remedies to promote wellness, including herbs and foods, sunshine, detoxification practices, exercise, lifestyle changes, fresh air, hydration, and hands-on healing.
Taoism says that in order to get rid of evil forces it is good to consume food through herbs and minerals, thus we can feed our soul and body with cosmic energy (prana). Medicinal plants act in synergy through a wide variety of active substances: antioxidants, flavonoids, phytosterols (plant hormones), lipids, carbohydrates, pectins, mucilages, many vitamins and minerals, proteins, organic acids, and lecithins, this being only a small part of them. The herbal therapy offers the advantage of excellent results and has indications in all known diseases. Many people are hesitant to try herbs even though they have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. There are worries that herbs might be harmful or, on the other hand, that plants will not be strong enough to help.
Our body can recognize and process natural sources well, while with the synthetic ones, not knowing what to do, it shelters them in the adipose tissue and other parts of the body and this is how issues may arise.
Number one rule! Be patient. While some herbs act quickly, others require more time to do their gentle work. The natural healing of longtime metabolic imbalances doesn’t — and shouldn’t — happen overnight. Plant remedies work on the cause - it does not alleviate the effect for a temporary moment as drugs do, but instead it solves the cause of it and that is the main reason we should be patient. It is also important not to exaggerate with plants as well and to keep a balance and, if possible, to discuss with an expert.
